Thursday
morning, I found myself waiting on the road (a few kilometers from my place) for
my friend who was 20 minutes way too late! I am not the kind to wait (Thanks
Param) and so I paced up and down with frustration filling my head. I’m
guessing the clock struck upon a holy hour because a miracle appeared before my
eyes! It was an angel – yes an angel with a beautiful body that flew past me!
It wasn’t Gabriel – it was the Aston Martin Rapide! Shocker of my life – the
good kind of course!
Why?
For starters, Aston Martin is a brand that has always lured me with its power, beauty
and soul. It’s a British manufacturer of luxury sports cars and has been
building the finest sports cars in the world for more than a century. Ulrich
Bez, CEO of Aston Martin, says the Aston Martin Rapide is the only true
four-door sports car in the world.
The Aston
Martin Rapide is a four-door, high-performance sporty saloon which was launched
in 2010. The production version of the Rapide was flaunted at the 2009
Frankfurt Motor Show. The Rapide is a marvel just like its siblings! It is very
hard to believe that it’s not a two-door coupe from some angles.
The
marvel is powered by the famous hand-built Aston Martin 6.0-litre V12 engine
which can churn 470bhp at 443 lbf·ft of torque. This superhero also exhilarates
from 0-100 km/h in less than 5 seconds to hit a top speed of 303 km/h. It goes
without saying the car will compete with vehicles like the Porsche Panamera
which showcases 500bhp. However, power isn’t the only attribute under the
microscope, let’s examine other fiery facts! The Rapide is one of the most expensive
and exclusive luxury sports sedans on the market, with standard features that
include a Bang & Olufsen Beosound audio system, heated memory seats and
Aston Martin's Adaptive Damping System.
So
we’ve examined its external beauty – let’s take a look at its inner beauty
(prepare to be amazed!). Park yourself into any of the comfy four full-grain
leather seats and take a look around. Your eyes will widen at the tasteful Walnut
dash trim along with Iridium Silver and
Graphite metallic accents! You will also find a specifically tuned six-speed
Touchtronic 2 automatic transmission that allows the driver to change gears
automatically or manually via the steering column-mounted magnesium paddles.
The four-door miracle even comes with the optional Piano Black fascia trim, red
stitching on the seats and a rear seat entertainment system with a 6-Disc DVD
player and wireless headphones. You can seat four of your friend (but trust me
there is no room for complaints in this classy cockpit!)
