Birth of a new SUV: Mahindra XUV 500 Driven

I’ve been waiting to hit the road in a Mahindra XUV 500 (the way I did in the Scorpio Micro Hybrid) ever since its launch. However, I didn’t have the luck to do so until now. I decided I need to take a ride on this bull so walked into a Mahindra dealership and took a test drive. To my surprise, the XUV 500 is not just amazing – it’s loaded with a cluster of features.

Mahindra & Mahindra India’s leading pickup and utility vehicle manufacturer returns with a bang, the all new Mahindra XUV 500. This beast has been designed to perform like a cheetah.

Now, what did we test drive? The new XUV 500 comes in 3 variants W6 2WD, W8 2WD and W8 4WD! We got our hands on the W8 2WD XUV 500.

Let’s begin with the interior: the XUV 500 is a masterpiece from Mahindra’s line-up. We got the beast vrooming and saw the magic! It boasts a sporty twin-post instrument cluster that is elegantly crafted! It’s also blessed with two-tone interior and fine leather, providing its occupants the comfort of a sedan. So how does this machine keep you entertained? 6-inch colour, touchscreen display with a fully loaded navigation system and an iPod-compatible music system.

While you wonder the amount of features the XUV500 is loaded with we will talk about the exterior design, the XUV500 is a mechanical cheetah. Mahindra has sourced the front impressions from the wild cat keeping the front body wide which looks like the jaw of the cat with the honey comb grill. It also features, sport LED day-lights along with xenon flood lights and fog lamps adding more lighting enhancement to the vehicle. Touching while moving through the side bodylines of the XUV, you can feel the structure of a pouncing cheetah with door handles in shape of the cat.

To make sure you enjoy a comfortable journey that is smoother than butter over bread, the XUV 500 is enriched with features like ABS, EBD and Electronic Stability Programme. It also has tubeless tyres with stylish alloy wheels.

  1. This SUV has really good dynamics, wild looks, feels spacious from inside and carries wide range of Savety quipment !The metal structure feels strong and rigid unlike Xylo and Scorpio and Aria!when you are inside you feel as if you are king because of the spaciousness! But the interior central console looks cheap and Chinese like!It seems to be so strong that unlike scorpio and Xylo ,XUV 500 might pass most european safety crah tests!
But there is a very big down side:An important parameter!
The Scorpio isn't good to handleThe accelerator is too hard to press -As I you are driving a heavy truck!Which means it is not a good self driven car!I will prefer skoda Yeti 4 by 4 instead! Its better than Honda CRv too!
