Bangalore got its new Porsche Panamera S

The new Porsche Panamera S is in Bangalore! Good Lord, I am wondering who the owner is? He must have true passion for automotives and handsome cash growing in his backyard, to be driving around in a dream car (which usually stays in one's dreams).

Until 2009 Porsche, the German marquee known for its two-door excellence upset many Porsche purists (especially die-hard fans of Porsche who believed Porsche was the mother of two-door cars). However, the Panamera's appearance with its long hood and rear hatch resembling a stretched version of its iconic 911 meant it looked fantastic. It also boasted an exhilarating power package and offered excessive luxury. The Panamera has a sumptuous interior loaded with modern technological amenities and expensive leather upholstery. Whoever believes it to be a four-door coupe, let me tell you it’s not. It’s a four-seater Porsche, with performance figures to match many two-seater sporty devils!

The Panamera is a four-door luxury sedan with a coupe profile, weighing at nearly 1,800kg. This beauty was unveiled at the 13th Auto Shanghai International Automobile Show in China (April 20090. The name Panamera is derived like the Porsche Carrera line, from the Carrera Panamericana race.

The design language of the Panamera has not changed from its typical Porsche philosophy: form should follow function. With the distinctive proportions and lines you can clearly say it has the Porsche factor. The wings are slightly higher than the bonnet and, at the rear, they are distinctly muscular and form the typical Porsche shoulder line.

The Panamera S is equipped with a 4.8-litre naturally aspirated V8 engine that produces 400hp and 500 Nm of torque. The Panamera S accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.6 seconds, with a top speed of 285 km/h. These figures are bound to get your heart pumping to jump in and try.

Porsche Panamera is said to be more exciting and a higher performing alternative to the traditional executive saloons such as the BMW 7 Series, the Audi A8, and the Mercedes-Benz S-Class. However, Panamera competes more directly with cars like the Aston Martin Rapide, the Maserati Quattroporte, the Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class, and the BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo.

Cayenne GTS Porsche Design Edition 3 spotted

Now I can get the paperwork done to call myself Lucky! Let me rewind and tell you how I get to do this. I was on my bike, checking out a Porsche cayenne as I filled Prashanth in on some cool details related to the SUV. When suddenly lightening struck my mind and I realized that this beauty was not just any Porsche Cayenne but a Cayenne GTS Porsche Design Edition 3! Yes, one of only 1,000 units that were ever produced! Porsche has done this special production stint in the pass with the Cayman S Design Edition 1 and the Boxster S Design Edition 2 (which boasts 3 dark racing stripes on the doors and hood, contrasting to the unique Lava Grey Metallic paint along the back wheels).

This new SUV model is rounded off with bi-xenon headlights, which is part of the standard features. So if the dark privacy glazing to the rear of the B-pillar. This beauty also wears a "Cayenne GTS" model designation in black with a red "S" at the rear! The 405-bhp Cayenne GTS has a 4.8-litre V8 engine and a Tiptronic S that helps it rocket from 0-100km/h in just 6.5 seconds. This beauty also flaunts a top speed of 251km/h or 156mph! "Every dog has his lucky day" - mine was today thanks to Porsche's special monster!

I think India is getting along with Hybrid technology pretty well, considering the welcoming provided to the Toyota Prius and the recently spotted Porsche Cayenne S hybrid. Porsche’s plan to build a Hybrid version of its Cayenne SUV came true in 2007, when Porsche presented a functioning Cayenne Hybrid and demonstration model of the drivetrain.

So, how does this hybrid technology from Porsche set the big boy Cayenne S different from the others in the hybrid market? An electric motor is placed in between the engine and transmission (supercharged 3.0-liter V6 engine and 8-speed transmission). With help of a specially used clutch, this allows the gas engine to separate at speeds of up to 155kph. This allows the car to do what Porsche calls “sailing” as it allows the big boy to move emission-free at much higher speeds.

Notable modifications to this car include an electric vacuum pump and hydraulic steering pump, allowing the car to function even when the engine is deactivated. A 288-volt nickel metal hydride battery is placed under the boot floor, occupying the space normally used for a spare tire. As a standard feature the Porsche Cayenne S Hybrid is equipped with Electrically operated, 12-way seats in front, with electric fore/aft, height, seat back, and 4-way lumbar support adjustment, illuminated vanity mirror, (for the driver and passenger), Leather trimmed 3-spoke steering wheel with colored Porsche crest, folding rear seats, Seats trimmed with grained leather and 2 integrated cup holders in front and rear.

Optional features which keep your mind drooling include Porsche Entry and Drive (simply touch the door handle and the system automatically checks the encrypted access code on the key in your pocket), ParkAssist Front and Rear, Lane Change Assist (LCA), Adaptive Cruise Control, 8-way power seats and more. The Porsche Cayenne S Hybrid does not compromise on the sporty driving which Porsche has always been providing to its customers. It’s fitted with PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management), which is an electronic damping control system. It offers continuous adjustment of individual shock absorbers, based on current road conditions and driving style. The PASM remains active at all times. It automatically adapts to the prevailing driving conditions, raising the bar in car control, comfort and safety.

The Porsche Cayenne S Hybrid, the eco-friendliest of Porsches, is quite alone in the market. However, the BMW X6 and Lexus R450h can be considered, though they have their own flaws in fuel efficiency.

Porsche Boxster S (986) 1999 – 2002 spotted

On my way to the fuel station, I saw a beauty on the streets with a sunny skin tone! The possibility of crossing paths with this eye-candy made me forget about the fuel and chase after it. I managed to click a pic of this beauty's booty and chase it until it stopped before a gorgeous house. The proud owner came out and asked, "Why were you chasing me?" I pulled out my wallet and tried to impress the owner with my business card (for Exotics in India), and credentials! We took a turn from there to a short chat before I got to cuddle this beautiful baby!

We're taking about the Porsche Boxster S (986)! Take a look at the first-gen Boxster and you will see how its beautiful figure has been maintained immaculately over the years! Hats off to the person who owns it!

The 90’s were the dark years for Porsche, following slow sales of their cars and Porsche mourning over the death of its 924/944/968 and 928 series. However there was a survivor, the 911 series (Factoid: The 911 was launched in 1963). Knowing the risks involved in the continuity of the model, Porsche decided on building a variant which is compact and cost effective compared to the 911. The light bulb switches on and voila the Porsche Boxster is born, one of the most popular models ever made by the German manufacturer! So what is the S about? Well Porsche loves sporty stuff so they created the S model of the drop-top.

As the Porsche lords worked on the Porsche Boxster S (986), they bestowed it with a 3.2-liter engine which could beat at 252bhp and race at a top speed of 258 km/h. Porsche 911 Carrera 4S spotted

It had been a long day as I walked out of office. Suddenly, a rocketing meteor flashed before my eyes! It was dark, hence the thunderous sound it produced made a greater impact! I ran towards it anxiously and the running was worth it! It wasn't a meteor - it was a Porsche 911 Carrera 4S! I was astonished to see it just standing there, as though it was waiting to pick me up. I just said “wow” and took a walk around it, observing its sleek finish.

According to a review of the Porsche 911 Carrera 4S, the sports car comes with a 3.8-litre engine that can churn out a whopping 325bhp. Furthermore, the engine is linked to a 6-speed manual gearbox. With this impressive combo, the speedster can hit a top speed of 289 km/hr. The Carrera 4S can cover 6.2km with a litre of fuel in the city and 8.3km on the highway.

Porsche being a German baby will not disappoint anyone when it comes to performance engineering and quality. The Carrera 4S has proved to be a car with almost no faults and is showing itself to be a comfortable commuter as well as a back-road star!

Porsche 911 Turbo spotted

We spotted the Porsche 911 Turbo. The 911 Turbo has been reigning supreme as a sports car for the past 34 years and its legend and performance continues to grow.

Porsche bestowed the new Turbo model with a flexible and responsive 3.8-litre direct injection engine that provides power ranging from 472-493bhp. The power of the Sport Chrono package and the PDK can boost this beauty from 0 to 62mph in 3.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 193mph. Porsche’s focus on economy is apparent in the Turbo. It reflects remarkable control and stability despite the power of the flat-six’s energy in the chassis.

The car looks has double-arm door mirrors, large tailpipes, redesigned lights and LED replacing the fog lamps. The German engineers have transformed the model into an ideal vehicle, a benchmark sports car.
